Cesium-131, has a higher energy allowing for a more uniform dose distribution with less overdosing than other permanent isotopes. 1
Cesium-131, has a shorter half-life than other commonly used isotopes for the treatment of cancer throughout the body, resulting in a shorter duration of radiation which contributes to a rapid resolution of patient side effects. 2
Cesium-131 proprietary permanent prostate cancer brachytherapy seeds allow for better dose homogeneity and the sparing of the urethra and rectum while providing comparable prostate coverage compared to other seeds with comparable or fewer seeds and needles. 3, 4, 5, 6

Product & Delivery Systems Information:

We understand that every clinician has different requirements and methods of working, that’s why we offer a range of solutions that are designed to make your life easier and more cost-efficient.

From loose seeds and preloaded needles to cartridges and braided sutures we have not only what you need but what your patients require

Loose Seeds

Cesium-131 seeds: the titanium cased seed contains a gold wire for visualization and affords greater flexibility of dose placement in situ, compared to stranded seed products.

Features

  • Good for Prostate and Surgical applications

Design

  • Gold radiopaque marker
  • Biocompatible Titanium casing
  • 100% assay ensures accurate activity level upon implant
Strands

Cesium-131 Strands contain seeds and bio-absorbable spacers placed end to end within a bio-absorbable sleeve. The seeds and spacers are sealed within the sleeve, allowing the strand to be implanted as a unit.

This technique significantly reduces the potential for individual seed migration and also accommodates extracapsular extension dose coverage when planned appropriately.

Features

  • Good for Prostate procedures

Design

  • Significantly reduces seed migration
  • Linking, bio-absorbable sleeve
  • Bioabsorbable spacer
  • Bioabsorbable sleeve dissolves after implant
Seeds in Mick® Cartridge

Cesium-131 seeds are loaded into Mick cartridges and can be used in conjunction with a Mick Applicator, ideal when individual seed placement is desired.

Features

  • Good for Prostate and Surgical applications

Design

  • Organized magazine of seeds for fast placement.
  • Works with multiple delivery systems.
Preloaded Needles

Cesium-131 Stranded or Loose Seeds can be preloaded into 18 gauge needles and placed into a shielded tray, which also doubles as a needle stand.

Preloaded needles are directly implanted into the treatment area, following the predetermined treatment plan. By preloading, several steps are removed in the operating room as the Cesium-131 sources are already positioned within the needle.

Features

  • Good for Prostate proceedures

Design

  • Bone wax filled tipped to secure strand in place prior to implant
  • Square hub and round hub needle options
  • 18 gauge needles
  • Sterilized needle tray doubles as a stand for intraoperative use
Braided Suture in Mesh

Cesium-131 Braided Suture in Mesh contains seeds with a Braided Suture then sewn into a bioabsorbable mesh that is then stapled or sewn directly into the affected tissues.

The use of bioabsorbable mesh aids in ‘blanket-like’ coverage when compared to individual seed placement and can also provide off-set placement from the radiation source. Common applications include lung, pelvic floor and brain cancers.

Features

  • Good for surgical procedures

Design

  • Flexible suture and allows for precise placement within tissue
  • Bioabsorbable suitable for a range of body sites
  • Customizable lengths available
Braided Sutures

Cesium-131 Braided Suture contains seeds loaded into a bioabsorbable and flexible suture that can be directly sewn into the affected tissues.

The suture adds a unified structure to the seeds while maintaining flexibility. Common applications include use in the treatment of brain, colorectal, gynecological, and head and neck cancers.

Features

  • Good for surgical procedures

Design

  • Flexible suture allows for precise placement within tissue
  • Bioabsorbable suitable for a range of body sites
  • Customizable lengths available
Strand Tray

Cesium-131 Strand Tray delivery system empowers clinicians by organizing and measuring Cesium-131 Strands while in the OR.

The custom designed, shielded, stainless steel tray organizes strands for clinicians who pre-plan cases or those that prefer to do real-time dosimetry and modify strands in the OR. Stand Tray is a modern tool for today’s brachytherapist.

Design

  • Shielded stainless steel delivery tray that protects strand structure
  • Slotted insert for ease of strand removal from tray
  • Strand length measurement assist ruler built in
  • Strand Tray is used to ship Cesium-131 Strands individually ready for implantation.
