The time in which patients are most anxious is the time between when they’re told they have prostate cancer and they know what their treatment is and what to expect. Once they’ve done that and once they’ve gone through the treatment, many people are relieved and feel much more confident about their situation and their outlook on life. There’s a huge difference before treatment and after treatment.ย
My anxiety was so high going in thinking I was going to die. I mean, just I wasn’t getting the information that I needed and I knew my levels were high. I knew the MRI said that you’ve got significant cancer, you know, in your prostate and I’m just like, “Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.โย
I think many men after they’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer certainly are fearful understandably and uncertain about what their future holds. And the fact that they can have this procedure done with prostate brachytherapy, take minimal time away from work and from their activities and afterwards be able to see that their PSA goes down in a very satisfactory manner. I think it’s very reassuring for them and allows them to no longer have to focus on this cloud of prostate cancer hanging over them, but get back to enjoying their their life activities.ย
After my procedure and seeing my numbers go down, I I’ve not I’ve not even thought about it. I just know I’m being treated as time goes on. I know it’s working inside of me and it allowed me to go on and live and live my life.ย
So a life changes after a diagnosis of cancer regardless of the treatment that you one pursues. Many of our patients are cured with the treatment we provide. So you know, I think I see in patients a lot of hope and a renewed kind of lease on life which I think really invigorates them after treatment.ย
The anxiety before was huge. That anxiety afterwards has been has been diminished. I’m not worried about it. I think itโs… I think it’s gone.
