POSITION TITLE: Lead Manufacturing Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

Assume the lead role in coordinating manufacturing engineering projects. Develop, design, fabricate, and validate automated equipment and processes. Develop all electro-mechanical engineering controls for equipment. Provide troubleshooting expertise for manufacturing systems for all operating and proposed manufacturing systems and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead multi-departmental teams in the design, develop, and fabrication of automated equipment for production.
  • Develop and implement electrical control systems.
  • Create SolidWorks engineering assembly drawings and details for fabrication.
  • Provide hands-on mechanical and electrical expertise.
  • Evaluate current processes and product design to make necessary improvements to minimize customer complaints per ISO procedures.
  • Specify, design, and procure components for capital equipment to ensure technological advantage and competitiveness through process capability and control.
  • Develop and implement effective preventative and predictive maintenance processes to maximize equipment operations.
  • Assume active role in the selection and certification of strategic suppliers.
  • Train manufacturing leads and supervisors in transferring new processes into the production environment.
  • Prepare validation protocols, perform validations, and complete all necessary validation documentation for implementation into production.
  • Maintain clear and constant communications between Engineering and production departments.
  • Oversee the production processes and recommend efficiency and quality improvements.

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

SUPERVISES: No Direct Reports

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering with 8-10 years of proven manufacturing experience. Preferably, in medical device, ISO or FDA regulated industry.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Highly creative and innovative
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Expert computer skills in SolidWorks, Excel, MS Word, MS Project

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions in production areas in which nuclear materials are present; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
